A LITTLE BIT
About Me
My story is different...
I’m not like most therapists. I didn’t plan on a career in psychology.
I grew up in Alaska, where I worked at the barn up the street to earn riding lessons.
I moved to Colorado to where I completed my undergraduate degrees in Animal Science and Agricultural Business. I worked at the barn down the road so I could lease a horse.
I came to California to work as an agriculture inspector. I made just enough to own my own horses.
After the birth of my second child, I suffered from undiagnosed severe post-partum depression; this played a large role in the death of my marriage. Facing a new life as a single mom, I needed to make some changes.
Discovering my Faith
There is nothing quite like rock bottom to help you come face-to-face with your belief system. A friend took me to church and I was saved.
Finding my Purpose
Through a series of miracles, I found myself enrolled in the Master of Arts in Clinical Counseling program at Point Loma Nazarene University.
Bringing it Full-Circle
Someone told me that horse therapy is a thing, so I opened my own practice, "Stable Relationships," where I share the comfort of horses with others.
How I See You
Life is hard. Suffering is optional.
- You have the ability and capacity to change. You did not do this to yourself.
- When you are finally able to take a good deep breath and feel alive in your body, you will still feel pain, but life will be worth living.
- Connecting with another being teaches us that we are not alone. We are wounded in relationships, and we are healed in relationships.
- You are not your diagnosis. You have a well-developed way of surviving in the world. You do the things you do because they worked at one point.
- If you are ready to try and change, I can help.
